A Sweet Surprise for Western Australia Motorists

When an ad agency representing Snickers sought a rail operator to help carry their message, Watco Australia stepped up, and the result was a sweet surprise for Australian motorists.

Last November, these two teamed up to launch the candy bar brand’s Hangry Train marketing campaign, aimed at amusing drivers stopped at railroad crossings.

For this campaign, four 40-foot containers were temporarily branded with Snickers graphics along with these messages: “Impatient?,” “Hangry?,” “Long Train Ay?” and “Should’ve Packed a Snickers.”

Over two days, Watco Australia moved the branded containers, among others, on a 50-wagon train. These mobile advertisements traveled from Forrestfield Terminal (FIT) to North Quay Rail Terminal (NQRT), both operated by the Intermodal Group, a joint-venture service of Watco and Australian logistics company Qube. Then the containers were reordered and returned to the point of origin, approximately 40 kilometers or 25 miles away.

Watco Australia Business Growth and Marketing Manager Joel Trouchet said, “Watco Australia is proud to help bring Snickers’ campaign to life. These rolling billboards achieved their overall purpose, to entertain drivers in a fun and memorable way.”
