Multimodal Terminal Primed for Growth

Earlier this year, Watco added the New Johnsonville Marine Terminal to its supply chain network. Located halfway between Nashville and Memphis on the Tennessee River Mile Marker 103, this marine transload facility offers barge handling and storage services with convenient access to I-40.

Bulk and breakbulk commodities like ores, aggregates, and steel move through Watco’s newest terminal, where the team regularly loads and discharges cargo from barges. Fleeting and barge washing services are also available to help facilitate barge moves for several customers in the area. An on-site certified truck scale streamlines inbound and outbound truck throughput, accelerating freight pickup and delivery.

The New Johnsonville Marine Terminal also provides support to a nearby Watco customer-specific dedicated terminal. Whenever the dedicated facility receives an overflow of product, the New Johnsonville team moves it to the marine terminal, where it’s stored at its 100,000-square-foot warehouse.

The New Johnsonville Marine Terminal also has room to expand its operations with 50 acres of developable land. While the terminal doesn’t currently offer rail access, the team is working with CSX to reinstitute the line and hopes to reactivate rail service in the future.

Terminal Manager Derek Damesworth said, “This terminal offers plenty of room to grow and the ability to serve customers across all industries. We look forward to what the future has in store for our team.”
