Greens Port Completes Landmark Lift

Less than six months after opening, Dock 5 at Watco Greens Port is now making history.

In March, the newest dock received a heavy-lift vessel operated by JSI Alliance, carrying the largest piece of cargo ever handled at Greens Port. Its contents: a hydrocracking reactor weighing 1,225 metric tons. That’s equivalent to more than 2.5 million pounds.

This reactor was discharged from vessel to barge by two cranes with a total lifting capacity of 3,000 metric tons. Also onboard the vessel was supporting reactor components. These pieces, collectively weighing 140 metric tons, were moved from vessel to land by crane and later loaded onto truck for delivery.

Commercial Director Scott Butler said, “This milestone operation showcases the strategic value of Dock 5. Greens Port’s enhanced capabilities make it a premier gateway for complex, high-tonnage industrial cargo.”
