Pumper Operator Takes on Extra at Every Turn
OCTOBER 2022 — When Operator Bruce Tackett sees a need, he’s the first to step up and offer a helping hand.
Take this most recent example. After flooding devastated parts of eastern Kentucky this summer, Tackett raised money to purchase much-needed supplies like cleaning products and non-perishable food items. Then, he traveled from Ghent, Kentucky, to flood-affected areas located more than 100 miles away to drop off donations to the Appalachian Regional Healthcare Foundation Flood Relief Fund.
“That’s just the kind of guy Bruce is,” General Manager Brian O’Brien said. “He would give his shirt off his back to help anyone.”
And his goal is to continue giving back. As needs continue to arise, he plans to collect more supplies and donations for flood victims.
Tackett provides a similar helpful approach to his work at Watco’s Ghent Marine Terminal. After recently hearing a fellow teammate lost his safety boots, Tackett helped him locate an extra set of boots in the exact size needed in the office.
O’Brien said, “Bruce is friendly, outgoing, and approachable. He’s a valued team member at the Ghent Marine Terminal.”
