Port Birmingham stands out as the only rail-served port in Central Alabama, with unit train capacity and connectivity to BNSF, CSX, and NS via Watco’s Birmingham Terminal Railway (BHRR). It features two weather-controlled warehouses: a 25,000-square-foot warehouse and a recently renovated 10,000-square-foot warehouse designed for bulk handling, along with the only heavy-lift crane in the northern half of the state, enabling us to handle project cargo. And with 144 railcar spots, five barge docks, and 182 acres of operating space, we have ample capacity for efficient operations.

Market Reach

Our Birmingham location means connecting you to the Port of Mobile, extending your market reach with overseas buyers and sellers. In addition, the location features direct linehaul to East and West Coast markets by rail as well as nearby access to multiple interstate highways. They provide strong regional and national connectivity for freight moving by truck to and from the port.

Weather-Controlled Warehousing

Port Birmingham handles a wide variety of commodities and materials, with weather-controlled storage designed to help protect cargo from damage and maintain product integrity. Our 25,000-square-foot warehouse provides secure, sheltered space for products such as steel, palletized goods, and project cargo, while our recently renovated 10,000-square-foot warehouse is designed to accommodate bulk materials. Together, these facilities give customers flexible storage options and added protection from the elements.
